Elenor Evoy v. Moses Rowe

Before Robert Carter Sr. and Robert Carter Jr., JPs

The Plaintiff complained that the Defendant assaulted her at the House of Thomas Welsh on Friday the 26 Instant, and has Torn her Cloak, & handkerchief, the Defendant acknowledged the fact.

Ordered that Defendant do pay to the Plaintiff the sum of Two Pounds, Two Shillings for Damages & be fined one pound One Shilling for Breech of the peace, and bound to his Good Behaviour. ~

Michael Ryan v. Mary Whealon, Mary Neal, Elizabeth Morricy, and Elinor Evoy

Michael Ryan stated in Petition No. 2 that he was assault[ed] and Batterd with Stones by Mary Whealon, Mary Neal, Elizabeth Morricy, and Elenor Evoy, Defendants in Justification said that the plaintiff had several times behav'd Rude to them, and as a Punishment they were Determin'd to Hustle him as they Term'd it,

The Defendants being young and no Malice, or Evil designs appearing fin'd the Parties Four Shillings & six pence each, and Reprimanded them.~

Elenor Evoy v. Michael Ryan

Elenor Evoy stated in Petition No. 3 that she was assault[ed] by Michael Ryan, abused and her carector defamed, John Houlihan being Sworn deposed that he was on his Masters gallery he saw some Stones Thrown as he supposed to Michael Ryan, by some girls assembled, and heard Elenor Evoy advise said Ryan to go away and the girls would have no more to say to him, Ryan abused said Evoy and said she kept a Bawdy House.

John Sullivan deposed that he was standing by Mr. Carters garden Door and Michael Ryan afew paces from him, he heard said Evoy desire said Ryan to go inform the girls who were pelting him with stones, and that they would leave it off, Ryan abus'd Evoy, said he would Beat her, and Call'd her a Bawdy House Keeper.

Defendant in reply admitted that he had spoken the words but said it arose from Passion being then so Ill Treated by the Girls. Judgment to pay five Pounds to the King, to be Bound to keep the peace, himself & one surity, in the sum of Five pounds each, and pay Court Charges Twenty-seven shillings.

Michael Ryan v. Elenor Evoy

Michael Ryan stated in Petition No. 4 that Elenor Evoy had abus'd him since the last Court day, defendant denied the Charge, Margret Aylward being call'd to support the charge, declar'd that she did not [see] Mrs. Evoy abuse Mr. Ryan, nor did she hear any words pass, She heard Evoy cough but knew not the Intention,

Plaintiff non suited to pay Court Charges-

Elenor Evoy v. Michael Ryan

Michael Ryan appeared in Court and Entered into a Recognizance to keep the peace according to his Sentence last Court Day, and stated in a Petition No. 6 that oweing to the Ill Treatment he Receiv'd from Certain persons that assaulted him he was actuated by passion for his Offence, and Craves the Mercy of the Court to lessen the fine levied on him,

The Court took Michael Ryan's Petition into Consideration and Reduced the fine to five shillings.

Rex v. James Welsh

An information brought by Adam McLarthy for an assault

It appeared and was proved that James Welsh had entered the pltffs house, and had struck and illused McLarthy who was a Constable~

Ordered that James Welsh pay a fine to the King of five pounds with Cost of Court and find security for his good behaviour, and a suspension of acting as Constable, untill his Excellency the Governors pleasure was known.

Rex. v. Sylvester Welsh

This information was brought by Ann McLarthy for assaulting her in the passage leading to her house~

the assault was proved on oath, and that he came to the assistance of James Welsh who had assaulted her husband Adam McLarthy.~

Ordered that he pay a fine to the King of five pounds, with Costs-and find security for his good behaviour and to keep the peace..~

Ann McLarthy v. Patrick Evoy

It appeared the defendant had abused the plaintiff and was with James & Sylvester Welsh at the time of the assault of McLarthy's in their house~

Ordered that the defendant pay a fine of Twenty shillings, with Court charges, and find security for his Good behaviour~

Rex v. Elenor Welsh
1 April 1803

For assaulting Adam McLarthy on the night of the 11th of february last~

The fact being proved the defendant was fined 50/- with Court charges, and to find security for her good behaviour and to keep the peace..~
