Contemporary Images of Textile Workers: Uppada (Silver Jari)

Adding to the quality of the saris produced in Uppada is the weavers' use of silver in the embroidery. Silver thread is often used in the borders, the pallu, and throughout the sari itself, whenever called for. In the first photo the weaver is incorporating the silver into the end of the sari. At the bottom, silver thread is woven throughout the length of the cloth.
