Section 1, Paragraph 6:aya en [Mexico City] monesterios de monjas de todas ordenes por la mucha cantidad que ay de donzellas nobles que sus padres no pueden casarlas ni ellas quieren sino seguir el servicio de dios
["that there be in Mexico City monasteries of nuns of all orders, because of the great number of noble maidens whose parents cannot marry them, nor do they want anything but to follow the service of God."]
Section 1, Paragraph 11:[B]iendo el Rreverendisimo arçobispo de esta ciudad de mexco y el cavildo della su buena bida y fama y el çelo que a las cosas del servicio de dios tenian y considerando la necesidad estrema que en esta tierra ay de monesterios rrogaron e ynportunaron grandemente a sus padres obiesen por bien hazer un monasterio
[The Most Reverend Archbishop and Cabildo of this city of Mexico, seeing [the daughters'] good life and fame and the zeal they had for the service of God, and considering the extreme need for convents in this land, prayed and importuned the parents to create a monastery.]
Section 1, Paragraph 16:[Y]o entendiendo de quanto fruto e efeto seria llevar adelante tam buena y santa determinacion y lo mucho que dello se sirviria dios nuestro señor e por avermelo pedido con mucha ynstancia el marques de falces vro visorrey que fue desta nueva españa y el rregimiento desta cibdad les señale sitio conviniente para que hiziesen y edificasen monasterio de la dicha orden de santa clara.
[Understanding what fruit and result it would be to carry forward such a good and holy determination, and how much God Our Lord would be served from it, and because of being asked with great insistence by the Marques de Falces your Viceroy and by the government of this city, I indicated a convenient site upon which to create and build a monastery of the said order of Saint Clare.]
