Serai System

As with all the institutions comprising the markets and market networks addressed in this work, the serai Lahori functioned as a commercial site engaged by South Asian traders including Sikhs, Hindus, and Indian Muslims (addressed under the rubric of Hindki in the text), as well as commercially active representatives of local Afghan communities including Pashtuns, Qizilbash, Tajiks, Uzbeks, and others.
