abandoned shop, Mapulanguene

Battle-scarred shell of a commercial building outside Mapulanguene sede, 1995. Returnees blamed the absence of roofs, doors, and windowpanes from most abandoned structures in this area on Renamo soldiers, who were said to have stripped buildings for useful materials when they occupied Mapulanguene and Motaze during the war.
