The 121st Infantry Division formed in September 1940, and served in Northern Russia for its entire war service, starting in June, 1941. It's infantry regiments numbered 405, 407 and 408 and it had the usual regiment of artillery and battalions of reconnaissance, antitank, engineer and signal troops. Frequently used in decisive actions, the 121st was fairly burned out by 1944, when it participated in the withdrawal from Leningrad and the battles around Lake Pskov. It finished the war in the Courland Pocket on the Baltic.
