The 100th Light Infantry (Jäger) Division, formed in December, 1940, with the 54th and 227th Infantry Regiments and the usual regiment of artillery and battalions of reconnaissance, antitank, engineer and signal troops. It invaded Russia on the southern front with the reinforcement of the 369th (Croatian) Infantry Regiment. It fought in all the major campaigns and was encircled at Stalingrad and lost in January,1943. Reformed in May, 1943, it served in Albania and then reinforced the II SS Panzer Corps in Russia in March, 1944. Transferred to Army Group Center, it retreated from Russia and Poland, finishing the war in Czechoslovakia, still fighting in the east.
